Google Is King Of AI Again
Googles long awaited competitor to GPT-4, Gemini was finally released, and though it was initially announced that it was delayed to January 2024, it was suddenly rolled out early. This is probably because Gemini Ultra (the top version) outperformed GPT-4 on pretty much every multimodal benchmark. One other note worthy thing about Gemini is that it comes in three sizes; nano, pro, and as mentioned ultra. Pro is out now with Ultra being delayed until 2024, but the most interesting maybe nano. Nano is designed to fit on devices like your phone and its expected that the next google pixel will have Gemini Nano running on it.
The other two noteworthy releases are AlphaCode 2 and Gnome. AlphaCode is Google’s Code generation AI and it was able to outperform 90% of programmers in competitive programming challenges. Google also released Gnome, which is an extension of AlphaFolds success in protein folding being applied to stable material discover. We only have some couple 1000’s of known stable materials used in manufacturing because they are incredibly hard to design and produce. However Gnome has predicted some 2million stable material configurations with about 700 going to lab production. This could unlock an incredible future of new manufacturing opportunities.
NVidia H200
The NVIDIA H200, powered by the Hopper architecture, is set to become the world's most powerful GPU for enhancing AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. It represents a significant leap from its predecessor, the H100, by offering 141 gigabytes (GB) of HBM3e memory at a remarkable speed of 4.8 terabytes per second (TB/s). This advancement nearly doubles the memory capacity and enhances the memory bandwidth by 1.4 times compared to the H100.
